Its been a problem for awhile. Now I have reasons other than keeping the teeth in my head, to stop, for health of my baby. I mean he will learn from example, and I wonder is the milk im feeding him already giving him a sugar buzz. While I bf him today I leaned forward to eat my huge 8 lb blueberry muffin. I consider today a good day because I didnt do dessert this evening.
I do know sugars affects on my health as well, my body rages with these Candida albicans, I pretty much carry all known sypmtoms. The severity comes and goes, depending on my diet over a period, and that halloween candy we bought for all our neighbors kids did not help, especially because noone showed up!! Im not always bad but I do believe I would feel miserable giving up sugar for a week, because the closet Ive got is half a day. oh well, its a day by day mission for me, which ill continue trying, but will mostly fail :)
The morning after that half a day I woke up dizzy, lightheaded, dying for a little bit of sugar. At first I thought it was hunger, but after a breakfast burrito with half a can of beans in it I figured mayb not.
The real problem for the trail of cutting down on sugar, is that these days it is in everything, almost, its in breads, cereals, crackers, dried fruits etc etc, and then even some natural foods are full of sugar.
What I realize is I cannot go cold turkey, and cut out fruit and cheese, and everything with any type of sugar in it, I can only start by minimizing.
Im writing in my blog to force myself to stop, and here is how I will begin:
1. Not buying anymore cookies, icecream, dessert style foods.
2. Sticking with fruit for simple sugars
3. Eating protein with most meals to keep blood sugar levels balanced.
4.Avoiding refined carbs as much as possible, because they make you crave more sugar.
5.Most importantly not giving up if I cave in :)
